Respite Care

What is Respite Care?

Respite care is a short-term accommodation that provides temporary relief to those who are caring for their family members. Respite care allows limited breaks for family and unpaid caregivers, giving them time for personal care (appointments, errands, time off).

Let DHC Take Care of YOU and Your Loved One
“Respite provides a break for the family caregiver, which may prove beneficial to the health of the caregiver. 60% of family caregivers age 19-64 surveyed recently by the Commonwealth Fund reported fair or poor health, one or more chronic conditions, or a disability, compared with only 33% of non caregivers.” – Wikipedia.org

Respite care can be either hourly or live-in, depending on the current needs of the client and family caregiver. The care provided by DHC respite caregivers allows coverage of the duties typically performed by the family caregiver. Those duties can include assisting with daily activities, allowing your loved one to maintain their normal routines. Our care team will assist with daily living activities including bathing, personal grooming, dressing, meal preparation, incontinence care, assistance with medication and much more.

It is common for family caregivers to feel like they have to do everything on their own. Many times you don’t even have a moment to step back to and reflect on how chaotic or stressful your life has become. Sometimes it is enough just to recognize that you need a little help. Don’t feel guilty. DHC is here to provide the support you need, even if it is just a single day off.
